"Where The Warm Desert Breeze Meets The Cool Mountain Air"

A.L.R. December 2010

Meeting on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of the Month at 6:00 PM

At our next meeting (December 1) we will be serving a chicken pasta dinner for only $5! So come to the December meeting early and bring your appetite. We’ll also be voting on proposed changes to our by-laws for members who join after July 1, so try to make this meeting. Please bring two cans of food to the net meeting for the food bank.

I will continue to send out emails to you all of PGR missions and any other last minute rides I plan on going to if you want to join me on a ride.

Don’t forget, if you want to find out what is going on at other ALR chapters in the state go to the state Rider’s website – http://azalr.yolasite.com

The Holiday Season is now upon us- and, boy are we keeping busy. Wednesday, Dec. 1st we’ll be riding to Prescott to visit the Chauncey Ranch YMCA Camp in Mayer. We are considering having an event up there to benefit the Camp. We’ll be leaving  from Mountainaire at 10:30 AM.

On Thursday Dec. 16 at 6:30 PM we’ll be having our annual Christmas Party for the kids at Model Creek Elementary. Although this is a Legion Family function, historically the Legion Riders have had a great turn-out helping Santa pass out the gifts, so please c’mon down and help out Santa for this worthwhile community event. If you can help, try to come to the school by 6:15 or so.

Finally, January 8 we will have our Quarterly AZLAR Meeting at Post 29 in Glendale. Lunch is served at noon with the meeting starting at 1:00 PM.

The ALR 79 FIFTH ANNIVERSARY PARTY will be held on January 15t at 1:00 PM. This will be a pot luck and all current and former members of ALR 79 are invited to attend.

We should be getting in the ALR 79 Calendars any day now. This is going to be a major fundraiser for us. Hopefully not only riders, but other Legion family members, and non-members will purchase these 2011 calendars which will have a bunch of great looking people in leathers. Calendars will be available for sale at the Post in the cabinet. ALR 79 ball caps are in the display cabinet and are for sale for $15 each.

Run Sheets are now on sale for the Get To Ride Your Posts Program! Here’s a chance to visit some of our sister ALR Chapters and possibly win up to $1,000. This is open to ALL Legion Family Members, not just Riders. More info here.

As always, please let us know what we can do to get you to start coming to meetings, going on rides, participating in fundraisers, etc. We should be geared to doing two things: One, going on rides and having fun; and Two, raising money (and having fun doing it) to benefit our ALR Charities – troops. vets and children.

For Good and Country,

John Moffit, Assistant Director
