A.L.R. January 2011

We always decide on our monthly ride at our monthly meeting on the FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH at 6 P.M. – Please try to make these meetings so you can have input on where we go!

At our December meeting we ammended ou by-laws to provide that if a new ALR member pays their dues on or after July 1, their membership is good until the end of the following year; so, if you have Legion Family friends who ride, get them to join up!

At our ext meeting (January 5) we will be serving Nancy’s famous chili with home-made bread for only $5.00! So, come to the January meeting early and bring your appetite!

I will continue to send out emails to you all of PGR missions and any other last minute rides I plan on going to if you want to join me on a ride.

Don’t forget, if you want to find out what is going on at other ALR chapters in the state go to the State (Department) Rider’s website – http://azalr.yolasite.com

January 8th we will have our Quarterly AZALR Meeting at Post 29 in Glendale. Post 29 has always been supportive of our events so it would be nice to have a good turn out of ALR 79 members at this meeting. Lunch is served at noon with the meeting starting at 1:00 PM.

ALR 79 FIFTH ANNIVERSARY PARTY will be held on January 15th at 1:00 PM. This will be a pot luck and all current and former members of ALR 79 are invited to attend. Please bring a dish to share and come spend the afternoon with your ALR Family.

January 22nd we’ll have an ALR Lunch Ride to the Fireside Grill in Wickenburg. We;ll be leaving from Post 79 at 11:30 AM. Until the weather warms up it looks like our monthly rides will be lunch rides.

We now have our ALR 79 2011 CALENDARS. This is going to be a MAJOR FUNDRAISER for us. Hopefully, not only riders but other Legion Family members – and non-members, too – will purchase these 2011 calendars which have a bunch of great looking people in leathers. Calendars are available for sale at the Post in the cabinet for you and your friends. They make great gifts! ALR 79 BALL CAPS are in the display cabinet and are for sale at $15.00 each. And, Run Sheets are now on sale for the “Get To Ride Your Posts Program!” Here’s a chance to visit some of our sister ALR chapters and possibly win up to $1.000. This is open to ALL LEGION FAMILY MEMBERS, not just Riders.

As always, please let us know what we can do to get you to start coming to meetings, going on rides, participating in fundraisers, etc. We should be geared to doing two things: One, going on rides and having fun; and Two, raising money (and having fun doing it) to benefit our ALR Charities – troops. vets and children.

For Good and Country,

John Moffit, Assistant Director & Run Coordinator
