Ladies Auxiliary November 2012

The regularly scheduled meeting was called to order on October 20, 2012.

This newsletter is going to be brief, with highlights covered, as I have a special message I would like to present and I needed some information from Wendie and she had to go to California.

Shirley Horozinski had called me and has resigned from the e-board. Shirley, thank you from all of us for your tireless work on behalf of the Auxiliary. Connie Taylor graciously accepted her appointment to the e-board to replace Shirley.

I had the pleasure of introducing Juanita Moffitt, District 8 President, and the members present gave Juanita our normal Unit 79 warmest of welcomes.

Linda Fausey spoke about education week which is the week of November 12th through the 16th. In the past we have, and will again, provide a baked dish each of those days for members. Anyone interested please contact me and I will keep a list of who will do what and when.

Proud to say, if all works out, for the first time anyone can recall, we will be having 5 to 7 girls going to Junior Fall Conference. Anyone interested in helping Dora with the girls, please let me know and I will get you i touch with Dora.

Teri Palmburg introduced Victoria Thomas from Girls State who gave a brief statement. We were very happy to have “Torri” present.

Our own Nancy Tschikof has received notice that she will be receiving the National Award for Community Service. Nancy will be accompanying Wendie Edge and myself to fall conference where she will be presented the award. Hooray Nancy!!!

Our holiday specials are as follows:

November 17: When Pigs Fly – Feather Bingo at 1 PM.

December 1: Christmas Boutique from 9 AM till 4 PM.

December 8: Christmas Party for active members – $15.00. Happy Hour is from 11 AM to 1 PM and eats shortly thereafter.

My special message:

It’s wonderful to be able to meet new people, make new friends, and to occasionally run into an old friend you haven’t seen in years and able to get reacquainted. I can’t think of a better place to do that than the American Legion. Unfortunately we too often forget that our main function is not that of a social club. Our main purpose is to hel our veterans and community. We also too often forget that not everyone you meet is going to like you, nor are you going to like everyone you meet. Once we allow personalities to take over and be the overwhelming, driving force, the organization is headed for failure. I hope with all my heart that nyone who reads this will take to heart what I have said and do what is best for the veterans,, our community and our organization.

NOTE: There will be no meeting in November. We will be in Tucson at Fall Conference and there will not be a forum present.

See you at our next meeting on December 15th at noon. Please note, there will be a e-board meeting at 11:33.

Until then, hand to heart, soul to God and the never ending fight for our veterans.

For God and Country,

NinaBill Overmyer, President
