Ladies Auxiliary October 2016

To date, Unit 79 has raised more than $700 for our State Presidents Project. We are very proud to support this wonderful cause that assists our Veterans. The two-fold mission of this project provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs. The additional benefit is that most of the dogs are rescued from local shelters. The Veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others. If you would like to make a donation to this worthwhile cause, make your check payable to ALA Unit 79 and note on your check that it is for “Paws-In-Service. Mail to:

ALA Unit 79, PO Box 172, Yarnell, AZ  85362

Of course you can always drop it off at the Legion to the attention of Wendie Edge. Look for more fund-raising activities in the coming weeks.

Halloween Party
It will be a fun evening on October 29th at the Legion.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd best costumes will be awarded.  Old movies, music and lots of festivities to celebrate a beautiful fall on the hill.

Shredding Service
We are putting together a day when a shredding service company will come to the Legion to shred documents.  If you have anything you need shredded, bring the boxes into the Legion No later than the 31st. Boxes should be about the size of a beer box.  Cost to you will be $1 per box. We need to know how many boxes you will have, no later than the 31st of October. We MUST have all the boxes to be shredded in OUR possession ON the 31st.

Turkeys Needed
Of the frozen kind, that is. As you know, Post 79 hosts Thanksgiving Dinner for our entire community on Thanksgiving Day at no cost. We will need lots of turkeys to make sure everyone gets fed. Volunteers to help serve and clean up are also needed. Let us know if you can help. As always we appreciate your support!

Feather Bingo
Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 19th! We’ll be hosting Feather Bingo again! Try your luck on winning your turkey for Thanksgiving. Bingo will start right after the ALA meeting. Come and “gobble” up the fun!
